Hotels in Windermere
One of the most beautiful areas of the UK, Windermere is the centre of the Lake District and the biggest of the natural lake in England, it is 10.5 miles long and 220feet deep, a boat owners dream.Steamboats and launches are available for cruises on the lake with stopping off points, so you can enjoy different areas.The western shoreline is mainly owned by the National Trust as is Fellfoot at the southern end of the lake.
Belle Isle is 38 acres and is the biggest island on Windermere. From the lake is agood spot to see the grand mansions that where built by wealthy Lancastrian businessmen in the 19th Century many now converted to hotels in Windermere.
